We have a "newsletter". If you sign up for the newsletter you'll get periodic updates from the farm. Topics range from "upcoming events" to "times when Febreze is a suitable alternative to showering". It's little slices of life from the farm, often funny because laughter is a stress-relieving necessity. It's not a hard-sell kinda newsletter because we're really terrible at hard-selling anything.

I’ve always loved everything about feeding time — the sounds, the herd dynamics and interactions, the exercise. Thought I’d share it with you in this video. Yukon is the first horse I feed, he gets Equine Senior as it’s … Continue reading

Meet the Horses: Nevada
We have an unintentional geographical theme to our horse names: Yukon, USA, Nevada, and you could argue “Wrigley” is a place too (Wrigley Field). Nevada is a dream horse — a beautiful red gelding with tall white socks that go … Continue reading

Meet the Horses: Suzzie
For such a dainty, delicate looking horse, Suzzie has been the cornerstone of our operation. She’s a registered Arabian mare. Arabians are notoriously friendly, docile, high-strung, and energetic. Prone to spook at pretty much anything. They have exceptional endurance and … Continue reading

Hot Days and Hot Horses
For the most part, our little herd is content to pass their time with their heads buried in their feed bunker. To the casual observer, it probably looks like we are raising a rare breed of headless horse. I rarely … Continue reading

Facing Fears and Facts
Preface – Mortality The facts are we are mortal, and so are our animals. The topic of domesticated animals and their care is a sensitive one with almost cult-like division over everything from when to call a vet vs. whether or not to … Continue reading
Wishbone and Sis
My favorite thing to do when I visit Wishbone is to stand under his neck and lean my back against his massive chest. I am completely sheltered by the gentle giant as he curls his head down a little and … Continue reading

Weekend Update
What a whirlwind weekend! I actually spent 10 hours in the saddle one day. That was awesome. Our horses can be real characters. During one ride I thought I’d give our big black Tennessee Walker mare a break and … Continue reading

Wishbone and Sis
We added a new couple of horses to our string in March. They are a pair of Belgian draft horses named Wishbone and Sis. They’re huge. By huge I mean: if you’ve ever wanted to own a pet dinosaur, this … Continue reading

There’s Something Magical About a Horse
If you’ve visited us at the hitching rails and/or ridden with us, you’ve met my main riding horse, Wrigley. You might say we’re pretty good buddies. Lately, when I walk into her field, she does this: it melts me … Continue reading

Meet the Horses: USA
For the smoothest ride around, USA is the perfect horse. USA is a Tennessee Walker mare who loves tough trails. She has a smooth “Walker” gait which the breed is known for and can sure cover a lot of ground. … Continue reading
