We have a "newsletter". If you sign up for the newsletter you'll get periodic updates from the farm. Topics range from "upcoming events" to "times when Febreze is a suitable alternative to showering". It's little slices of life from the farm, often funny because laughter is a stress-relieving necessity. It's not a hard-sell kinda newsletter because we're really terrible at hard-selling anything.

Business Ramblings – Marketing
More thoughts about business, this one’s about marketing, or budgeting I guess. You can view my other ramblings/lessons here. The common phrase we hear when being pitched a service (in this case an ad) is, “well, it’s $1000. If … Continue reading

Legitimacy
I often feel uncomfortable when people say to or about me that I’ve built Red Mountain Trails, that in some sense I’m the queen bee, boss, or guru of the operation. It doesn’t feel legitimate. Is the business my … Continue reading

Sausage Making: “Follow Your Dreams” and Keep Your Day Job
There seems to be this notion that you aren’t truly committed to following your entrepreneurial dreams unless you quit your job, cash in your retirement, and put everything on the table. That’s naive and frankly, irresponsible. (Yeah, I’m that curmudgeonly … Continue reading

Sausage-Making — Starting a Business that “Can Never Work”
I’m sitting at my kitchen table. The house is positioned on a little knoll such that the majority of property (and horses) can be seen from the dining room window or deck just outside. I can see 11 horses in … Continue reading
