We have a "newsletter". If you sign up for the newsletter you'll get periodic updates from the farm. Topics range from "upcoming events" to "times when Febreze is a suitable alternative to showering". It's little slices of life from the farm, often funny because laughter is a stress-relieving necessity. It's not a hard-sell kinda newsletter because we're really terrible at hard-selling anything.

This White Bull****
***Disclaimer: I don’t know if this is true, but it’s funny and that is what matters. Also, swearing. *** There’s a story circulating that a man was arrested for attempting to remove snow with a flame-thrower. The operator of said … Continue reading

Aw, Nuts!
It’s fall. Something about the light and the cool air makes me want to snuggle indoors and write every chance I get. (My dream life is one of ridin’ and writin’.) This time of year is exciting because we … Continue reading

In Case You Ever Wonder What Breakfast is Like Around Here
I’ve always loved everything about feeding time — the sounds, the herd dynamics and interactions, the exercise. Thought I’d share it with you in this video. Yukon is the first horse I feed, he gets Equine Senior as it’s … Continue reading

Got Hitching Rails?
There are hitching rails at the South end of Kiona Winery’s parking lot. These were put in several years ago, I believe by the Backcountry Horseman chapter (this is unconfirmed, because I’ve heard numerous others claim to’ve put them in). … Continue reading

Easiest Saddle Rack in the World
I wanted saddle racks that I could mount on the outside of our corrals and round pen — something that folds down when not in use, and that would keep my saddles and bridles and everything else off the ground … Continue reading

Facing Fears and Facts
Preface – Mortality The facts are we are mortal, and so are our animals. The topic of domesticated animals and their care is a sensitive one with almost cult-like division over everything from when to call a vet vs. whether or not to … Continue reading
Wishbone and Sis
My favorite thing to do when I visit Wishbone is to stand under his neck and lean my back against his massive chest. I am completely sheltered by the gentle giant as he curls his head down a little and … Continue reading
