We have a "newsletter". If you sign up for the newsletter you'll get periodic updates from the farm. Topics range from "upcoming events" to "times when Febreze is a suitable alternative to showering". It's little slices of life from the farm, often funny because laughter is a stress-relieving necessity. It's not a hard-sell kinda newsletter because we're really terrible at hard-selling anything.

Stuff We Did
My goal this week is to not use the word “busy”. It’s so meaningless. We aren’t getting too many days off from riding and tours, and that’s just fine. Today was the first in a little while. Even our days … Continue reading

How Do Well Drillers Get Cold Butts?
Ever heard the saying, “It’s colder than a well driller’s a**”? I’ve often wondered why their backsides would be especially cold, or how the saying came about. We got a chance to explore this myth last week. Our well is … Continue reading

Well, well, well…
It’s been awhile, so I’m making up for lost time by writing a super long post! Long ago, and far away (actually: 43 years ago and right here) a man dug a hole and struck water. As far as I … Continue reading

Don’t Come Crying to Me with Your Bleeding Head Wound
I’m officially banned from all first-aid activities. “Don’t be concerned when I come in the house” said Jeff when he called me. I was inside. He was mowing with the tractor and brush hog. “Um, okay” I said, no clue … Continue reading

Feedin’ Time
Every once in awhile we like to share a little “transparency” with you about the business side of things. I’ve been working on a post about feeding because it’s one of our biggest expenses. Enjoy. The basis of our feeding … Continue reading

It’s Not Personal, but the Answer is No
Ugh! From time to time folks will ask us if they can bring their horses out and ride. We appreciate people asking, but once in awhile they’ll get an attitude about it and my normally happy-go-lucky nature turns dark and … Continue reading

Weekend in Review
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… Friday — lovely and quiet and sunny. Cold, but tolerable. A bit breezy in the afternoon. I walked around the property, relieved to have reduced our chicken flock … Continue reading

A Little Tree Obsession
We started doing the Christmas Tree lot 3 years ago at our place. It was love at first… sale. We harvest wild trees from an area that is permitted for commercial cutting. I love everything about tree-cutting trips — a … Continue reading

Pumpkin Spice, My Eye
I can’t get on the Pumpkin Spice train. Man, I can’t even approach the Pumpkin Spice train station to TRY to board the train. Weird, because I looooove squash and have been devouring the stuff in various forms almost daily. … Continue reading

Tough Stuff
Doing the right thing sucks sometimes. Here’s to Nevada: When we first started our business we began scouring Craigslist and other online groups for suitable horses — older, quiet, calm. We found an ad for a “free horse” in Roy, … Continue reading
